Seashell
I picked up the seashell from the mantlepiece, and dusted it down. Putting it to my ear, I listened, and it told me the universe.
Stories of love, tales of darkness and the abyss, told through the lapping echo of the unknown. The unseen, imagined through silence.
I put the seashell back on the mantlepiece, and held it for a second, gently. Perhaps a second too long.
I smiled, not through happiness, and turned. 'Thank you', I whispered, as I walked away.
